My current research centers around how border militarization has impacted the Rio Grande along the Texas-Mexico border. I also study the development of science identity in underrepresented students in STEM and the Geosciences.

I am an Associate Professor in the Environmental Sciences Department and the Geography & GIS Department at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. I am a physical geographer with GIS expertise. I received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Geosciences (2005), and a Master of Science in Geography (Fluvial Geomorphology, 2008) at Texas A&M University and a PhD in Geography (Fluvial Geomorphology, 2013) at the University of Oregon.
